Iona Abbey

Stained glass designs available as 'Static Cling' window decorations

Iona Abbey
Iona Abbey was founded in 563 AD when St Columba arrived on the Isle of Iona with twelve companions, who formed a monastery. The monastery survived repeated raids by the Vikings until the 12th Century when the sons of warlord Somerled founded a Benedictine abbey on the island. It is thought to be the site where the famous Book of Kells was made and the museum is home to a wonderful collection of medieval crosses.
