Jesse PanelSt Mary's Church was originally a collegiate church founded by King Edgar in the 10th century. It is the largest church in Shrewsbury and has one of the tallest spires in England. It was declared redundant in 1987 and is now under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.<br><br> The Tree of Jesse is a depiction of the family tree leading to Jesus. This is a 14 century example showing a reclining Jesse of Bethlehem. It was moved to St Mary's Church in 1792 and underwent restoration in 1858.
