The Isle of Man has been inhabited since 6500 BC and as such has a rich cultural mix of Norse, Celtic and Manx. The islands symbol “three legs of Mann” or the Manx triskelion appears on the islands official flag, coat of arms and on its currency. Since the 17th century this symbol has reflected the islands motto, which translates from Latin as “whichever way you throw it, it will stand”.
