Chartres Cathedral

Stained glass designs available as 'Static Cling' window decorations

Chartres Cathedral
These designs are re-drawn from stained glass windows at Chartres Cathedral and make lovely inexpensive gifts and souvenirs. There has been a church on the site of Chartres Cathedral since the 4th Century, but the present building was constructed between 1194 and 1220. This Gothic cathedral is unusual in that architecture was adapted to accommodate its stained glass windows. Chartres Cathedral has some wonderful windows dating from the 12th Century including three very impressive rose windows and the famous ‘La Belle Verriere’ window. The cathedral is also home to the ‘Sancta Camisa’ - the tunic believed to have been worn by the Virgin Mary at the birth of Jesus.
